Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that allows user to make telephone calls riding on the Internet infrastructure instead of just the traditional PSTN. Some cost savings for IDD are due to utilizing of a single network carrying both voice and data, i.e. the actual transmission of digital audio of voice, referred as IP Telephony, Internet Telephony or Broadband Phone.
